Slawomir Mrozek OUT AT SEA

line

Three men find themselves on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Having something to eat OUT AT SEA is not a question of what... but whom. Someone has to be sacrificed and the three are struggling to find a 'just' and 'humane' way to decide for the right person.

Slawomir Mrozek's OUT AT SEA is an absurd and macabre comedy on the edge of life. It explores the idiosyncrasies of the society we live in and reveals the absurdity of mankind in all it's comedy and pathos.

Slawomir Mrozek's OUT AT SEA is directed by Sebastian Sommer as part of his Master of Theatre Arts in Directing (MTA) taught jointly by Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School and the Theatre Programme of Victoria University of Wellington:

Through a combination of practical and theoretical studies during this two-year postgraduate programme, MTA students develop the necessary skills to direct and initiate projects in the professional theatre and related areas. The current presentation is one of a series of practical directing assignments that constitute a substantial component of the second year of study. The director is responsible for all elements of the production, and has an opportunity to explore a particular style of theatre. The project is therefore a showcase for the kind of creative contribution the director will in the future offer the New Zealand professional theatre.
